Main Search and Rescue Coordination Centre(MSRCC)

        The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is the authority responsible for the SAR activities in Türkiye. The said organization is named as The Main Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MSRCC). MSRCC is responsible for coordinating the SAR activities on the land and in the sea, arranging SAR policies; making an agreement between neighbouring states to establish SRR and carrying out international SAR activities.

         Turkish Coast Guard Command in Ankara is responsible for carrying out SAR Activities in the maritime areas. This command acts as the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC). The said agency performs SAR Activities through the Black Sea, Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean area commands (RCCs) with the surface and Air units under its command and also with the units of the agencies (Turkish Armed Forces, Coastal Safety and Salvage Administration and others) functioning under its coordination.

          Ministry of National Defence Turkish Air Force provides the Air Rescue Coordination Center (ARCC)  function.

          On scene Co-ordinators are specially trained officers, as Coast Guard Boat Commanders, pilots and Captains designated to co-ordinate SAR operations. MSRCC will always use an OSC when passenger and merchant ships are involved. On scene Co-ordinators are available on a 24-hour basis.  In large operations involving many resources, an On Scene Coordinator (OSC) for the incident is appointed by the SAR Mission Co-ordination .   

          A plan for cooperation will consist of six parts and the information given therein can be divided into the following areas: Company information, Ships information, SAR (Search and Rescue) information, SAR facilities, Media relations and Periodic exercises.

                The plan should be made up in accordance with guidelines of (MSC.1/Circ.1079/Rev.1)
